Irene loved sports and any Seattle-based team. She was particularly fond of tennis. Her love of sports was only surpassed by her love of animals. Besides cats and dogs, she rescued many types of animals including raccoons and opossums.

Lance Haynes

June 29, 2024- East HS

One of best ways to share the news about Lance's death is to include what he wrote about one of his Illahee friends and fellow 1957 EHS grad, Art Henning, in 2011.

“He (Art) was the best and always a starter. We used to play basketball at his house on a half-dirt court with Kenny Dodd, Norm Cox and Don Simmons in our fun little "resort town" of Illahee, WA. Sure feel bad about Art passing.”

Lance was aptly described as a "character," a description he enjoyed.

He studied engineering at the UW and spent the later part of his career as owner/operator of an antique rental car service in San Diego, CA. Larry Haynes, his twin brother, died in 2013.  He is survived by two children.
